New to Speedrunning, have a few questions.

Where do I find software that shows your controller's inputs?

Which timers are the easiest to use and customize?

What if I want to speed run a game that isn't very popular and I can't find a record for on any speed running site? Does that mean this game doesn't have anyone running it or something?

Thank you for your time. :)

-Here is something for Keyboard: https://obsproject.com/forum/resources/nohboard.44/ Gamepad: https://obsproject.com/forum/resources/gamepad-display.3/ OR https://db.tt/A5N2SNN3 (direct download XInputView)

-I recommend Livesplit. It's the most accurate and most customizable Timer out there.

-If you don't find any runs, then it most likely means, that nobody ran it yet. So you can decide the rules yourself and also route it yourself.

Dacciox has the right idea, what game do you want to run?

To display your input, Fatalis made a software named "S Keys" for the runner LotsofS aka S. here : https://dl.dropbox.com/u/422005/SKeys.exe

To request a leaderboard for a game that isn't on speedrun.com database, ask it here : http://www.speedrun.com/requestgame

Thanks for the info! :D

Awhile ago I was researching ideas for games to run, and there were 3 I was thinking of doing. One being Baroque which is for PS2 and Wii, originally on saturn, I couldn't find anything on this game at all. It's also a dungeon crawl game that requires you to die a lot, and confuses a lot of people which is why it didn't sell well, but I really enjoyed the game and it's strange plot. But after some thought and through process of elimination I'm going to start speed running a more well known game instead first, just so I can get the hang of things before I pave the way for another game to be introduced into the speed running world. <_<

I've downloaded a few things. Now I'm just researching routes for Banjo Kazooie and I'm trying to figure out if I have version 1.0 of the game to do the termite skip thing. I got 2 copies of the game in case one isn't the right one. But I can't figure out how to check which version of the game I have? I'm not sure if that's too specific of a question. Haha

I guess if you ask the Banko Kazooie community, they'll answer you.
