Hello! My name is Guggy and I'm apart of a marathon during the Month of April for a charity. The Marathon is called the "Easter Speedsters" and we will be raising money for the Easter Seals, a non-profit organization that seeks to help people with autism and other disabilities live better, and help with rehabilitation and job training. Right now we're just seeing who is interested and/or willing to participate/help. We have a form available if you'd like to be a runner. The form can be found here: http://goo.gl/forms/oN14IqkLCC

Our Discord can be found here: https://discord.gg/0l2gIp2SwGKs9ls9

F. A. Q.

Q. Why are you doing this?

A. Most of the people in my family (myself included), as well as several friends, suffer from mental disabilities. Most of us had it pretty rough growing up because of it, due to often being bullied or ignored by our peers. I don't want to see anyone else have to go through that. That's why I'm working with the Easter Seals on this marathon, because of the great work they do in helping people like us live better lives.

Q. Who Are the Easter Seals?

A. The Easter Seals are a non-profit organization that helps people with autism and other disabilities live better lives. They offer services such as Job placement, Rehabilitation, and Counseling. It's been around since the early 1900's, helping people for almost 100 years. Today, Easter Seals assists more than one million individuals and their families annually at more than 550 Easter Seals service sites across the country.

Q. When is this marathon?

A. It's scheduled for April 16th-23rd. The marathon could be shorter depending on submissions.(edited) Q. Can I submit multiple games?

A. Yes! We are allowing runners to submit up to 5 games. We only require they be separate submissions so it's easier to keep track of.

Q. Does it have to be a speedrun? Or can it be a fast casual playthrough?

A. Yes, it must be a speedrun.

Q. How can we be sure we can trust you, especially since you cheated during a speedrun!

Q. Where will the money go?

A. All the money is going directly to the Easter Seals, and not through any other accounts.

Q. Will there be cuts?

A. Depending on the overall total hours of the estimates, there will probably be cuts. Q. I have a really obscure game that hasn't been run at GDQs. Can I run it?

A. Of course! There's a lot of really obscure games out there that have really fascinating speedruns. We encourage all of them, as long as they're marathon-friendly.

Q. How will this work?

A. We will have our own twitch channel for the marathon, as well as a few hitbox.tv dummy accounts. What we'll do is have the casters stream to hitbox (since it has less delay) and we will windowcapture their stream and stream it to twitch with the overlays. We will mainly be using my computer to stream. While I am not there, staff will be able to access my computer via TeamViewer, and make any changes that need to be made. (ie switching runners)

Weird how they're not mentioning that known fraud Chibi is a part of this.

It was stated who is running it, and the FAQ even specifically calls out your concern. I don't see how this can be construed as "not mentioned"

If it wasn't edited in after my comment.

But since you're clearly endorsing this liar, well...

It was there before I added the marathon. Apart from that, please tell me why we should boycott an event because Chibi is part of it.

United States

Because he's a known liar. He's unstable and untrustworthy.

You don't "give a person a second chance" by letting him be the center of attention and be trusted with an event like this.

United States

Site policy pretty much goes as far as "We'll let you have a forum to discuss your event." It shouldn't be considered sanctioning or endorsing, and perhaps a disclaimer should explicitly state this. The large majority of the events we've listed don't have enough information to be certain of the intentions, and that's the unfortunate nature of small charity marathons in general.

I do wish the marathons were less prominent on the forums listing for this reason.
