Just wondering why there's no All Day stages category for the Wii version of this game OpieOP
For various reasons:
-
The main reason would be that none of the current runners of this game (If there's any to begin with) actively run that category neither do they want to.
-
The category itself is already pretty arbitrary. The run consists of playing through a certain amount of levels unlike the usual begin from a new file and finish on last input/credits. Here we're just choosing to play a small portion of the game and leave the other part outside. I do understand if people run it because they like it instead of doing it just because. That's the case with Unleashed PS3/360 where the category goes under Misc. categories. This wouldn't be a problem if people actually ran it on Unleashed Wii but no, there isn't any runners for it.
-
Free world records. If it actually was a category, would people take it seriously? I wouldn't, that's for sure and I'm pretty sure the other runners think the same. We don't want any dumb guy coming and submitting a sorry excuse of a speedrun, without learning any strats nor putting any effort into it and then brag about having a WR in a category nobody cares about and think they have something special.
-
If there's a "All Day Stages" category, logically there should be a "All Night Stages" category too, right? But doing that we have double the useless categories with no people running it.
-
There's no need for a category to be on the site so you can run it. If you want to run your arbitrary category by yourself because you like it, then cool, nobody can stop you from doing so. But that doesn't mean it should be a real category on the site.
With these things right here, All Day Stages ain't becoming a category on this game any time soon and I doubt it will ever be.
In my opinion, All Day Stages/All Night Stages should be added as they are short categories unlike any% that shows off skills of player. So I think we should really add these categories and mimic Sonic Unleashed 360/PS3 version. Also, there is no 100% category that has some runs done.
In response to this, there is now almost just as many runners with an All Day Stages time than Any%. How come it hasn't been added?
A friendly reminder to read all of the rules before submitting. :D
