Why is there not an emulator category???

I understand that you can go faster on emulator than you can on console so why not just make an emulator category separate from the console category?

We allow emulator runs as long as you don't do any thing with it that you can't do with the original console. You mark that you use an emulator when you submit a run if you used an emulator.

I guess I'm kinda confused by this question. Are you asking us to allow runs using emulator using functions that you can't do on console, like speeding it up?

After reading this again maybe you're on about something like the following:

It's known that the ZSNES emulator does not emulate lag properly for SNES games. Using that emulator to do runs could result in an unfair time advantage due to the reduction or elimination in lag. If this is kind of what you are talking about, then that problem is addressed by banning the emulator the submission of runs.

We don't permit the use of emulators that would knowingly give someone an advantage over the original console.
