Are glitches allowed?

So I understand in most speedruns you can use glitches to speed-up said run, however I'm not too sure on where you guys stand on the using glitches during runs of heists for this game since I've found a few different ones throughout heists which really speed them up.

Queensland, Australia

Yes, lots of current runs use glitches. The big bank is played on a previous patch so you can get out of bounds, so i'm sure glitches are fine.

Sweden

they are allowed although it feels really bad imo having them allowed since they break gameplay completely like walking through walls in big bank. same with runs that can't be done anymore. i think the page should have updated heists so if a heist isn't possible to complete the way the person did it to get the record then it shouldn't be eligible.

That's why we want the update number on all heists. For example for big bank, you have the glitched run but in a certain number of update, if you want to see the "legit" #1 at the moment, you can eliminate these runs without restriction for the people who run it like this.

Sweden

It's still kind of annoying imo since the glitcher will have the #1 record on frontpage. i just think mnbmnb336 deserves that big bank spot much more.

What bothers me a little is how this run is considered a valid one even though not all members make it to the end. Imho everyone who starts the mission should also finish it. But maybe that's just me.

If I remember when we discussed about the rules... We decided to accept this kind of runs when people disconnect for a reason. Imagine you see during a run, one runner disconnected. What should we think ? Problem of connexion ? Disconnected for a good reason (have to go, eat, etc...) ? Or disconnected to gain time ? And Imagine more, we reject the run because of a problem of connexion a run which was a perfect run. I think everybody will be a lot salty. :D In any case, it's too impredictible to decide if it's a valid run. And everybody can lie and say "oh he had to go don't worry it's legit". So we decided to don't care about disconnected players. However, in this run we see it's wanted but they probably do it again and say "hey he lost connexion" and we can't verify it because we see only one player screen.

@my HERO : People are not too dumb too. :p If they consider mnbmnb336 run is more the #1 than the glitched run, they will considerate it. In the leaderboard we can't put Glitched or not. It will be too massive. (before an update it was quite massive with each difficulty haha)

Well, first of all i've recently joined your wonderful speedrunning community. So it's unlikely I was in that discussion. Is there a thread you can link me to it? Would be interesting to see what ppl think.

As for the run I mentioned you can clearly see that he gets kicked by the host. Then a few seconds later you hear them being proud in the lobby about their time. It's crystal clear what goes on there, it's not a disconnect problem. And you can verify it. The video is taken from the host' perspective.

"Imagine more, we reject the run because of a problem of connexion a run which was a perfect run. I think everybody will be a lot salty. "

If you can't finish what you start, then it shouldn't count. An incomplete run is not what I call "a perfect run" at all.

France

Don't worry about that. The discussion I talk about was between JelleNL andme in private when we decided all the rules. ^^

I agree with you about the intentional kick to get a better time. But in what I explained we have to dissociate what it's intentional or not. In my opinion, I have no problem to reject a run with an intentional kick to get a better a time. However, I'm a little more sad to reject a run which is quite good just because a guy in the run have his internet shutted down. The IRL RNG strikes. :D And if we accept to reject a run with disconnection like this, we have to reject all the runs with a member who lost connection intentionaly or not. I think it's a little rude...

But if you want, we can open a topic to discuss about that rule and see what other speedrunners thinks about that. :)

I would like this alot. If you could, please do. I'm very interested to know what the rest of the community thinks about this topic.

Edit: And sorry for sort-of derailing this thread. I'll get back on topic:

For the "using glitches" issue I agree with Cladall and Voetiem. To me, only what is achievable is relevant in the most recent version and therefor in "my rankings" these are non-existent really.

On the other hand I also see why you would feature them, at one point during this game's development it was achievable doing it legit. So there's no arguing wether they count or not aslong as we all agree that the relevance is bound to a specific version and at a certain point in time it was achievable and thus it is legit.
