Lakitu Cup & Ring Attack Ace Strats for Star Waluigi [WIP]
Updated 6 years ago by MetalYoshi

There are two possible hole locations for each of the four Par 3s on Lakitu Valley for the first Tournament. The Hole 3 strats will also apply for the second Star in Ring Attack - "No Easy Entrance" - especially since there is no Rain on any hole in Ring Attack. These are with Star Waluigi. He is becoming a new favorite choice for New-Game+ and more complicated categories due to his solid power, ultrafast swing animations, good trajectory, and balanced stats (especially high Impact).

Unless otherwise noted, assume full power, perfect accuracy, and no Spin with the default club, so as to save space. Terminology: when you're timing back to the Sweet Spot is early, this results in a minor slice. The ball will swerve slightly rightward (for right-hand hitters) with slightly more loft. This effect is more drastic as your timing is further off the sweet spot. The opposite of this - when your timing is late - is called a hook. These hits will usually reduce your carry, but exceptions can occur (example, hitting a slice while shooting uphill with a low shot will increase the carry). Many of these strats will involve an intentional hook or slice to curve the ball while minimizing the need to aim with the control stick.

HOLE 3 VIDEO COMING SOON

139y Clear (Front-Left) - Toggle down to either the 130y or 127y marks (the former might be riskier, but if you tend to undershoot, this will work fine; use the other if you tend to overshoot). Either one you choose, just play a low 8I. These strats are beautiful because they serve as each others' backups, and both work in different ways. The weaker one is a one-bouncer and the stronger one is a dunk! If you undershoot, you'll be short but close. If you overshoot, use a slice or hook and Super Backspin to reduce distance. NOTE: This will not work for Ring Attack since this shot goes over the Ring entirely.

ALTERNATE: If you happen to hit full power and get -1% RNG, just let it go and allow the game to mystify you with a dunk! Thanks again Geoff for uncovering this treasure by accident.

139y Rain (Front-Left) - WORK IN PROGRESS

144y Clear (Center) - Club up to the 3w and play a 1/2 bottom-ball shot. If you hit one mark short of the 1/2 point, just leave the Impact Point at center. It's lovely having easy reference points with backup plans built-in.

ALTERNATE: If you opt for a simpler shot with more hangtime, Geoff has you covered! Thank you for accidentally finding this gem!

144y Rain (Center) - WORK IN PROGRESS

HOLE 7 VIDEO COMING SOON

123y Clear (Center) - Club up to the 5I, hit one mark short of 3/4 and add Super Backspin. ALTERNATE: Club up to the 6I, toggle down to 130y, and use a bottom-ball Impact Point.

123y Rain (Center) - Club up to the 7I, toggle down to the 142y mark (three short of full), play a bottom-ball Impact Point and hit a two-frame hook with Backspin.

144y Clear (Back) - Club up to the 5I and toggle down to the 149y mark. Use caution, since if you shoot short, you might hit the slope. Add Topspin if you anticipate lost distance. Add Backspin if you overshoot.

144y Rain (Back) - Club up to the 8I, select Power, and hit one mark short of full power.

HOLE 12 VIDEO COMING SOON

157y Clear (Front-Right) - Club up to the 4I, toggle down to the 163y mark, and play a bottom-ball Impact Point shot. This is a bona-fide dunk that solves an otherwise difficult problem since the slope compounds Waluigi's draw. Backspin is not a bad idea as a backup if you overshoot, hook or slice slightly, but the ball will not roll far regardless.

157y Rain (Front-Right) - WORK IN PROGRESS

166y Clear (Rear Center) - Toggle down to the 167y mark (3 short of full) and play a top-ball Impact Point shot. A hook - unless you overshoot - might hit the tree, so adjust your muscle memory accordingly. Thanks fspacewater for this strat!

166y Rain (Rear Center) - WORK IN PROGRESS

HOLE 16 VIDEO COMING SOON

113y Clear (Center) - Club up to the 7I, set the Impact Poin to bottom-ball and hit one mark short of 3/4 (110y mark if you need a reference). ALTERNATE: With a top-ball Impact Point, play a shot one mark short of full power with a two-frame slice and Backspin. Thanks fspacewater for this strat!

113y Rain (Center) - Club up to the 7I, set the Impact Point to bottom-ball and hit 3/4 power with a one-frame hook. Thanks fspacewater for this strat!

112y Clear (Right) - Toggle down to the 101y mark (5 short of full), set the Impact Point to top-ball, and add Topspin. If you overshoot, forgo the Topspin since this shot still has quite a bit of momentum by the time it reaches the hole. Thanks fspacewater for this strat!

112y Rain (Right) - Toggle down to 99y, set the Impact Point to top-ball and add Super Topspin.
