AntarcticaGood point, didn't think about it from the perspective of looking for games to try out for the sake of trying. Guess I didn't understand/think of that perspective because I never been in those shoes myself :p
Well depending on the game and community, they might have different rules for different versions of a game. For example, in some games platform and region of a game doesn't matter and they are all treated the same when times are submitted to LBs. Sometimes however a community will decided to separate LBs by platform/region and have different categories for them. This is completely a game by game basis though as there is no standardization for something like this.
Go to the LBs for the game you want to run, see if anyone has done a run on the version you want to do a run on. If yes, then you're golden. If no, then maybe ask in the game's forums why nobody has done a run on that version. Maybe it's no allowed for some reason or it has it's own separate category.
It's always seemed weird to me at how many people ask this question. Like, this is a hobby for you, not anyone else. It's like walking up to a random person on the street and going "what sport should I play and get good at?".
Like Klashik said, just play a game that you enjoy and have fun with and won't drive you (too) insane to play multiple times over and over again. Just never made much sense to me to ask random people what they think you should invest your time in.
If you have issues with the current DKC LB site and wish to move them here, you need to bring that up with the rest of the DKC community, not this site. 1 run from a single person who doesn't like the current site can't really be uploaded here. It doesn't make sense.

It has a low entry point.
Most people have the game, it's a fast speedrun, it's easy to learn and not very difficult on beginner. It's commonly considered to be the easiest KH Speedrun to do (optimizing it to the level of BB or Saiyanz is hard though). It's just a good speedrun to do when just starting out with KH speedruns and given it's short length (roughly an hour shorter than KH2 runs on average), it appeals to a lot of people.
If a mod for a game is inactive, then you can submit a request to become a mod for that game so that runs can actually get verified.
Im by no means a KH2 expert so take what I say with a grain of salt, but yeah, the strats do differ between 2FM Level 1 and 2FM Crit Any%. The strats are even more different between Crit and Beginner.
I think LiquidWifi did a tutorial video for the entire Crit run and TehRizzle might have done one for Beginner. Check out their Youtube's and Twitchs and see what you can find.
Youtube is a good resource for strat videos. Not many strats are put into words, but there are plenty of videos by a myriad of runners that showcase them pretty well.
The only glitch that benefits you is CoR Skip, any other "glitch" is more than likely something that wouldn't save time and would probably just be a minor quirk that might lose time or something.
There is no pastebin that has updated strats or anything like that. The best way to learn the run/game is to watch runs and take notes. Runs will be your best source of strats and other info like that. Although some people have some menu notes posted here on the website under "Guides" so you might find some helpful notes there.
Otherwise, just watch and practice as it's the best way to get yourself learning and improving. Plus most people here will help if you have any specific questions (and you can always ask in the KH Discord as well)
I'm curious about what you mean by "it looks fine for now". I don't really think you're in a position to make that decision as a person who doesn't run BBS/BBSFM.
I don't want this to sound rude, but these aren't your LBs and just sweeping this request under the rug with that kind of comment is kinda uncalled for. This is a valid complaint brought up here because the BBS LBs really do need to be updated to look more like the ones for BBSFMHD. Right now people really can't do runs of this game because there's no division of difficulty (and I know there are a few people who have discussed wanting to do runs of this game).
While I could understand turning down a request if it was for something drastic or some big change to the LBs for a game, but this isn't that. This is a simple request to bring the LBs up to standard across all the games regardless of how often they are run and that is absolutely justified. If the mods of this LB don't have the time to dedicate to things like this because they're busy with real life things, that's fine and people get busy, but then maybe we need to talk to Pac or somebody and get more moderators added/re-do the mods so that these kind of requests can be handled. I'm sure there would be a few people who would be happy to help and dedicate some of their free time to keeping these LBs up to standard.
Sorry if this post came off as antagonistic, but the comment of "they look fine for now" was really condescending to the person who made this request and it really rubbed me the wrong way.
Those runs involve using cheat codes. Since they aren't legit runs (just things for fun) they aren't on official leaderboards. Hence them getting their own Google Doc.

May or may not actually be able to do the race as I might have a lot going on during that time of year, but I'm aiming to do it.
