The general guidelines to prevent bugs are don't have text stored or be saving before picking up an item or loading a new area.

I know for a fact that glitched spanner pick up can be forced by spamming save in the Mandarin corridor between East and West South Vale then entering the gate and storing text before it loads right until attempting to pick it up. I'm not entirely sure why though as you can pick up other items in the area just fine only for the spanner to glitch afterwards. The West South Vale softlock could be an artifact of the glitched spanner or spamming save in East before heading West or something else I didn't notice.

As far as loads being banned I seem to recall the reason being it was to prevent IGT abuse, though given what happened with SH3 I'm not sure there is much point anymore.

For the purposes of speedrunning Extreme 1-X and Hard are basically the same thing. The only thing that'll change is you'll need more stamina recovery, maybe. The boss strats are exactly the same. Unless the supply availability value removes ammunition you need which I don't think it does.

This boss has been known to waste time in runs so I got around to making a brief guide for the strategy I used in my runs. Hopefully it will help out people that have had issue with it.

There is no excuse for not locally recording your run while playing on emulator and I cannot possibly allow a spliced run. Submit what you have with the parts in a comment and someone will get around to having a look.

I can't agree with that Orophene. Banning the only interesting speedtech in a game doesn't make any sense in a race, especially since one of the reasons Shunpuk stated is to get people running the game. If they don't want to run the fastest version that's their choice. It is unforunate that the PC version is a buggy mess that can be awkward to get running but we can help folk get it installed.

Who cares?

It's playing video game quickly on the interent. Does there really need to be a category for every possible iteration or release of a game? Consider how quiet SH speedrunning is and wouldn't there just end up being a bunch of categories with no competition or perhaps worse people appearing that just want a free "WR"? Sounds like a recipe for turning the leaderboards into a bloated mess. Then again I never wanted leaderboards in the first place, so somewhere to start would be figuring out what their purpose should be.

Is this serious? Because it reads like a joke. Making decisions to allow save states in a pcsx2 emulated speedrun? If this is the "main reason" for any change it only further serves to highlight the absurdity of it all.

Nice, if it's on emulator just upload the local recording to youtube or somewhere.

There really is no reason to stop running just because you "beat the time"

The route I made can go as low as 34:2X so if you made a faster route it can get even lower.
