This might also be a second or so faster than the old strat. What happens is, you seem to warp to the first available platform above you at the location where you hit the trigger.

I honestly believe that before this run is either accepted or denied, the most knowledgeable SA community members must come together and many of them, if not all, should have compiled a list of sections of the run that they find suspicious, and each and every one should be scrutinized. This run cannot be flat out denied simply because of the nature of the runner. Denying this run without providing an honest to god Warren Commission-esque report would be setting a terrible precedent.

If you steal a cab with at least one passenger before Call and Collect and hit the Call and Collect marker with the passenger(s) still in the cab, the cab driver will then respawn in the cab and will wait just like a hailed cab. It saves about 20 seconds.

This does not seem to work for Lure. It worked for Flatline, but most likely will cost you time (plus it's nearly impossible to quickly find a cab near Peg's house with a passenger, which makes it just as useless for Payback [if it even works for that mission, I never tried]).

During a pay n spray, pause and unpause when the door is halfway through the closing animation, it'll save you just over a second if done optimally.

I was getting a lot of frame issues while driving. The clock is still connected to the FPS. The pay n spray between 21:00-23:59 bug still exists.

-1.8 - 115 FPS (everything maxed other than night shadows turned off, view and detail distance at 15, vehicle density at 1) -1.4 - 155 FPS (everything maxed other than view/detail @ 15, shadow density @ 0, VD @ 1) -same spot on the map, looking the same direction at the same time of day

It seems to be identical to 1.7 other than the claim that they fixed the final mission's fps issue. I went back to 1.4.

Changes have been made to the route between Puerto Rican Connection and Undertaker. A few things to take note of:

  1. I've included a message tree so that I/you can easily plan for whatever happens with the messages after Have A Heart.
  2. Receiving the call from Mallorie about Roman's disappearance will block the call from Mallorie about Michelle being a cop until you've completed Hostile Negotiation.
  3. Mallorie's call about Elizabeta going to prison is not affected by the call regarding Roman's disappearance.
  4. French Tom will be waiting at the diner -03:00 hours ahead of the scheduled time and will remain until +03:05 after the scheduled time. The heart marker may not appear due to completing a mission between appointment reminder times, but pay no attention to this.
  5. If you're unfortunate enough to be blocked from receiving Mallorie's call about Michelle being a cop, this call will most likely come in just after Hostile Negotiation, before the Paper Trail triggering call. Continue to wait for the Paper Trail call if it's not the first. If you receive the Paper Trail call before Mallorie's call, you'll have to wait for a message between Holland Nights and A Long Way To Fall (see #6).
  6. If you received Mallorie's call about Elizabeta "doing a bid" prior to TLC, you won't need to wait for it later on between TLC and Lure. I recommend hailing your cab before killing the target on Holland Nights so that you'll be able to quickly warp to the next mission before receiving the end of mission call (like after Museum Piece).
  7. It may be possible to receive Brucie's text, unlocked by Puerto Rican Connection, between The Snow Storm and Have A Heart if you're on extremely good pace. Only wait if you'll be getting the text prior to 01:00 AM. The text has a 2h timer and therefore cannot be received before The Snow Storm. (It's very unlikely that anyone will be on this kind of pace for a long time)

Shouldn't you be required to get at least 70% because that's the minimum requirement to pass the mission? The game considers it a fail otherwise, at least during the campaign. What does the end screen say if you land outside the runway during a replay of the landing level?

Could someone change the title of this thread to "Taxi Warping In-Game Time Progressions"?

I recently came back to this issue and discovered the cause. These time progressions will occur every single time you use a taxi warp as long as something is scheduled in the phone's organizer and the map marker for the appointment hasn't appeared. Time progressions are relative to the distance the taxi needed to travel and are not variable for any other reason. During the Any%, Classic and 100% runs, there are two appointments which will show up in the organizer, the interview and the date with French Tom.

These have been confirmed by R¤ to be legitimate times and I don't want to see an incomplete leader board.

Bumping into Phil allows you to get into the cab just before Phil does, which in turn allows you to warp right away, instead of waiting for him to get out and get back in. This saves about 7 seconds. You're going to want to sprint out of the cutscene, so hold your sprint key, W and D throughout the scene. The rocket strats save about 12 seconds over SMGs. Every rocket shot is worth taking. You should be able to work in a trip to the gun shop before and after Trespass, without any time loss if you're waiting for messages between missions.

Here are a couple risks I managed to record. Others include running into fire, entire paths blocked by fire, enemies running in front of your rocket at the perfect moment.

Once you study the chart, understanding it becomes pretty easy. Powdinet explained some of it to me, and I've posted what he said in an additional chart which lists all of the calls that get terminated after a certain point. *Powdinet explains parts of the chart: -ambient_phonecalls are basically what you'd call "absolutely useless" -they serve no purpose other than to add some more story for casual gameplay

-phone_player phonecalls are the most important, they block the player's progress until they are answered

-Chat_Phonecalls are those where you call a character and they talk about events related to completed missions -They aren't used in a speedrun at all -When a chat_phonecall is set, the previous one for that strand is simply replaced by the new one -since all chat_phonecalls are for roman, there will always be a maximum of one chat_phonecall at any time

-The ones that say "Wait" block strand progress until they come in, while the others don't -Texts without "Wait" are not needed at all to progress the game, and as such should be avoided (though it's highly unlikely there's a path that avoids a lot of them)

-The script seems to check for the text messages sequentially from 0 to 58 for an available text -I should correct and say that what I said is valid only if the text message timers are exactly the same -if one of them is earlier than the other, even if both expired, the earlier one will be chosen. By earlier I mean in terms of time, of course*

I've changed my route between Deconstruction For Beginners and the interview. This should work for the type of pace I'm usually on, even above my average. It's not possible for a troll call to come in with this route as well. A call from Roman has been removed from the route because today I found out it's not needed and gets deleted from the queue after completing Out Of The Closet pt.1, Have A Heart, and Photo Shoot (thanks to Powdinet). I can't say much more about it until I test it out.

If your health is less than 50% when retrying the mission, you'll respawn with exactly 50% health. I know that you'll respawn with 100% after only a bit of fall damage (90%). Not sure what would happen with 51-75% until tests are done.

Another option is to take 2-3 whacks from the closest enemy at the start of Chinese Takeout's shootout. Hits from the butt of the gun don't damage armor. When I tried, two took me to about 60% health, three - 40%. Two whacks will cost about 5s, three - 7s. There's a risk of taking a lot of armor damage as you turn back to the room, so maybe it's best to shoot the guy who just whacked you. Try not to run too far into the hall.

Some additional stats: ¤An optimal third fight during which you get three quick counters + kill Santos will take ~22 seconds from gaining control to killing Santos ¤An optimal third fight during which you go from 100% health to dive health will take ~20-23 seconds, on average, from gaining control to first frame of fade-in after skipping the final cutscene ¤An optimal third fight during which you take a dive ASAP will take 11 seconds from gaining control to first frame of fade-in after skipping the final cutscene ¤10 seconds is the likely the fastest you can take 51% damage in a single fight, from gaining control to the final punch which drops you to <50% ¤Sub 8:40 is possible as I got an 8:41 RTA from the official Any% starting point to the first frame of control after Momma's Boy, using the whack strat

After the dance @ 2:00 in the video. This one seems to be less consistent than the Chinese Takeout clip. Stand on the crate, face the table, hold W and press your jump/climb key (jump/climb & F spam may be necessary). You end up in the subway tunnel below. It will take longer to escape the area if you run the opposite way in the tunnel. Video warping would probably be best in the Any% run.

Saves about 15 seconds. Completely removes the risk of losing too much health/armor or dying.

+I'm pretty sure the IGT is paused during the dance section, and unpauses when the dance meter disappears

Josh's idea added an extra 18 seconds to the between missions section. An optimal cab would have been 13 seconds faster (that would be you getting out of Tony's car immediately and getting into a cab sitting next to the Chinese Takeout finish location). There's a chance an optimal cab + warp location would have you jumping out just as the call is about to come in, which would likely delay the call. It could be faster in theory, but I still think countering once, then twice, then taking the damage you need on the third guy, will be faster almost always.

Noz proposed a route change which would have you doing Sexy Time after Chinese Takeout. You'd alert the patrols and take your damage from the patrol + the guys near the chopper. After, you'd do Momma's Boy. This would surely be the optimal/extremely ballsy route at the moment. Sexy Time is quicker with alert strats as well.
