Axel was definitely Aqualung's preference back when he still played and I think everyone piggybacked on that due to both the player and character being really good. Mr. Slam and Warthog seem like they'd be viable choices but I'm not sure how much anyone's actually tried using them in runs. Both have more armor than Axel but their specials are a little trickier to use due to them being unidirectional, whereas Axel can hit his from anywhere near an enemy. Give each one a shot and see what you think.
If the thread isn't locked, it's fair game. Also, I'd prefer using older threads to continue the same conversation rather than clutter the forum with multiple posts about the same thing, especially if said conversation still only takes up one page.
Just one man's opinion.
Two of those moderators have logged on within the past month and they all have contact info (Twitch, YouTube, Discord, etc.). Adding to that the ability to message them directly on Speedrun.com, they'd have to try really hard to avoid you if you were determined to get a hold of them.
@12_Kelvin Speedrun.com's page on Moderation Rules seems to take a stance on this, writing "A minimum effort requirement is reasonable. It is recommended to at a minimum accept a first playthrough done in one sitting with an intention of playing the category quickly. Runs that are clearly not making an effort to beat the game's category quickly may be rejected." With this in mind, perhaps you can convince the moderator of the game in question that your run is acceptable and get it on the board, or barring that, get them to define what a minimum effort for that game would look like.
@GamesDu Generally, the staff of Speedrun.com would prefer that you wait a minimum of 21 days from the time you submit a run before you start discussing a game moderator's inactivity with them. Since you haven't reached that point yet, I'd suggest the following in the meantime.
-
Reach out to game mod Joka via his Twitch, Twitter, or Discord and talk to him about Maverick Hunter X.
-
Check out the alternate leaderboard site for Mega Man speedruns that Joka runs - www.megamanleaderboards.net
-
Grind out more PB's
Good luck with everything. I hope it works out for you :)
I request the removal of an inactive Super Moderator for the game Mega Man X8. The moderator in question "Sahailaway" has not logged on to his account in three years, has no contact info, and has no run of the game in question.
Hey y'all. About a month ago, I was browsing and noticed that the category Offline Story Any% doesn't currently have any rules defined. Wanting to see that taken care of at some point, I attempted to reach out to Elehex via DMs, given that he's both a mod and the only person with a run. Unfortunately for me, rather than reply or acquiesce to my request, he blocked me :(
Any chance one of the other three mods might take care of it instead?
Since you're allowing Steam runs now, maybe you could change the title of the game to "Risk: Global Domination" and leave out the "(Mobile)" part. After that, consider adding the Switch port as well since that board on its own seems to have no runs and isn't being used. Consolidation is always fun.
I'd like to see the various difficulties added as sub-categories.
Ring Man is a jerk. Mega Man 4 has some really tough stages in it. I'd say it's one of the harder games in the series. Still, it's not impossible to get good at it. Moniker and Iraqvet have both put a bunch of time into it and look how awesome they are at the game. Practice makes perfect ;)
I'd like to see the percent sign taken off the category names.
What are the reasons that one would be unable to select North Korea as his or her location? If it's obvious, I'm oblivious. Help me get up to speed.
If I had to guess, I'd say the responses will be used to identify Speedrun.com's demographics and help address his proposed research question about the impacts of Twitch.tv and streaming on the speedrunning community and more specifically Speedrun.com. But who knows? I just pulled that out of thin air TBH. I don't know this guy.
If the Diddy Kong Racing console community doesn't want to share space with emulator runners, an alternate solution would be to game request a new board that would house all the emu runs. At that point, the DKR emu community could be left to govern itself and vet its own runs without putting any unwanted pressure on the console runners.
There's a separate board for Mega Man X Legacy Collection that you can submit runs to. Here's a link for you :)
I logged in just now and saw a notification on my account, so they're working fine for me at the moment.
As of the time of this post, you're allowed to set the CPU Speed to either Original or Turbo, whichever you prefer. Go get those PB's :)
