Hi there! I've been playing this game for about 5 years now and I absolutely love it, I'm wanting to get into the speedrunning side of it and I was wondering about some information regarding saving time. In Act 1 I am able to do City and ???? very easily, but I'm stuck between whether to complete Act 1 by doing Rave or Cave. I personally get faster times on Rave, but from what I've seen online, others do cave. It may just be me still learning to optimise my run, but how much faster is Cave over Rave?

So I did some research into this aeons ago, back when my PB was a 43:59 and at the time I found that a typical Rave was about 9 seconds slower than my typical Cave (Time difference does of course depend on your RNG in Rave/ how much of a Mashing Machine you are in Cave). Looking at the Rave IL now though I does not seem very optimal:
Also after that I found a very risky but very fast strat for the room which spawns four bombs where, if youdestroy a bomb right as your I-frames run out you can hit a lot of arrows at once, but that involves a lot of damage tanking so idk it's scary. Example here:
However, if I remember correctly that room specifically was changed along with the steam rerelease so idk how good the strat is now.
Anyway I always found Cave to be much more consistent and safer, but I do still think that it is quite a difficult level to learn/play, so if you are more confident with Rave I'd say go for it for now.

Awesome, Thank you! I sent you a request on Discord since that's where I'm most active. I'm getting better and better, with my last run being 1 hr, 19 mins. Definitely going to keep going at it. My main issues right now are GasManibli and getting a consistently good time against Crocodibli. But I'm getting better and taking the small victories! Thank you for the reply, I wasn't sure if anyone was still around here, I thought I would take a shot in the dark.
