Speed Up Loading Times (Xbox 360)

Since we runners are (currently) unsure if the game will always be timed via RTA, I want to help give those on Xbox 360 a fighting chance against PC players.

You will need: -A physical or digital copy of F1 2010 for 360 -A reasonably sized USB 3.0 (16GB+) or an external USB SSD for Xbox 360

If you are using an officially formatted Xbox 360 external drive, then you can ignore steps one and two.

Here's a step-by-step guide to improving your loading times:

  1. From the dashboard, go to your 360 settings > System > Storage > Select the USB (unformatted) > Reformat it (make sure you've backed up any existing data to a PC).

  2. Once reformatted, make sure it is working. It will show its capacity if all has went well. If not, try reformatting until it works, or try a different USB if still unsuccessful.

  3. Once reformatted go back to the dashboard. If you're using a disc copy of F1 2010, then insert it. Stay on the home screen and press 'X' for game details > Install > then allow the game to install to your USB (you will still need to have the disc in the console any time you want to play, but data will load from the USB, which is faster than disc).

If you are using a digital copy, locate it via 'My Games', press 'X', then install it to your USB.

  1. Once the game has installed, which should take ten minutes or so, try running it. You can use save data from the internal Xbox 360 HDD, but I recommend fully relying on the USB for best results - it also means you can make throwaway career runs on your USB copy, whilst your real profile is still on your HDD.

By doing this I noticed most loading screens were cut down by seconds and the game boots up a lot quicker. Therefore, if we truly are stuck with RTA, this will at least aid console players (on 360) a tiny bit.

And, at the very least, it will save us more personal time when performing runs. Considering approx. 40-50% of console runs are made up of lengthy loading times.

As I'm working (FINALLY) on the rewriting of the ruleset apart from the thread I posted weeks ago, I understood what we spoke at F1's Speedrunning Discord Server. If anyone want to submit a 30%+ run, please contact us prior to submission so we can add the category for your run. This helps with the t
