Learning Resources?

Where would be the best place to look or find resources on learning to run this game? Looking to get into speedrunning an RPG and always been a fan of Wild Arms :)

yo, there's a few categories for wild arms, most people start with No ACE because its fairly short and the most competitive (and probably the most fun). The document here should have all you need to know to learn No ACE: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_lbCRXKBRANOrQFlGXgQDWIqztys2c-ZFqQyxVFLt58/edit?usp=sharing If you're interested in other categories lmk.

Im coming for that Any% glitchless WR

When it comes to emulators, which are allowed? i know some games dont allow some emulators.

Christmas Island

Good luck with Glitchless runs, run is definitely beatable with three deaths. No real restrictions on emu, just don't mess with the settings to purposefully make the game faster and should be fine.

On panel bouncing, do you have to do a rotate with the stick or just flick the stick down to get the turn? Also is there a more detailed video on step counting, The biggest concern I have is learning how to keep track.

Christmas Island

for panel bouncing, you just push the opposite direction you want to go when sliding into the panel. No super detailed video on step counting atm, only part that might be tricky to learn just from watching glitchless vod is tripillar, i basically wait until a certain part of the song before i switch.

Will it be possible to hear that part of the song when I watch your vod? Also I notice that you changed the start of the run to start at Rudy's prologue then move to Jack, is that just for the apples to sell?

Christmas Island

rudy's prologue tends to have more resets, so i do it first. Other benefit is that getting heal berries before Jack's prologue means that you can heal before the last two rooms (where you can encounter a skeleton) without having to pick up a heal berry in memory temple.

Awesome thanks for the info!!! One thing that I'm curious about is what does ACE stand for? Is the psn digital version for PS3 a preferred version to play, or should I look at more physical disk on PS2/PS3? I have a copy, but also have the digital version on my PS3.

Christmas Island

ACE stands for Arbitrary Code Execution. The any% category uses spell names and hollow man to rewrite the game's code for a credit call, and so No ACE does not do that and instead gets to the ending by beating Zeik Tuvai. I run on PS3 PSN version, which is comparable to ps2 fds. Ps2 fds and PS3 digital are most likely faster than using ps3 with disc.

I was just thinking, is there a Wild ARMS discord room? I will make one if there isn't :)

I do not believe there is a discord server for Wild ARMS but soon I am going to start practicing runs on my stream so that is gonna be fun

Just made a discord, anyone is free to join :) https://discord.gg/WbBTqgr
