On Sunday, December 24th, a German speedrunner, s8n, found that when you start the game on a fresh save file, the Cup Selection Menu (CSM) does not appear when you click “Tourney” so it automatically puts you in Mushroom Cup on Normal difficulty. CSM Skip saves between 1.0 - 2.0 seconds approximately.

CSM Skip has a 100% guaranteed success rate due to the layout of how you progress throughout the game. In order to unlock the second playable cup, the Flower Cup, you need to first beat the Mushroom Cup, etc. The only trade-off is if you already have previously recorded data, you must erase it all in order to utilize CSM Skip. It goes without saying that this skip only applies to Mushroom Cup Any% (Normal).
