Route options and benchmark times: only route: ~1:42

1. jump in the water and ride the river down to the main area
2. get to the kangaroo area by jumping on the TV
3. kill a kangaroo and be a kangaroo
4. bounce on the pillars to get to the one nearest the vulture
5. kill the vulture, jump from the pillar towards the vulture to swap into it
6. head to the exit and pillar squeeze to finish the level

This level is pretty simple, but there are a few optimizations. First, you can avoid some damage by intermittently spin attacking as you move down the river. Its not a big deal and you probably don't have to do it but it feels good. Also, intermittently spin attacking while you walk is believed to make you move faster (see Sting In The Tail).

Notes on killing the vulture: The vulture is very easy to kill. Just keep jumping and time your boomerang attacks according to your jumping. The proper time to throw is just a bit before you land. If the boomerang goes below the vulture while you are still moving up, you threw too early. If it goes below while you are moving back down, you threw too late. I don't think it's possible to have the boomerang go above the vulture. The vulture takes 3-5 hits to kill. It seems random, so that's unfortunate.

Techniques

Pillar squeeze: Some levels in the desert have pillars around the teleporters that only the desert fox can fit through. The game expects you to use the vulture to carry a desert fox to the exit. Instead, if you exit a large animal like the vulture or the kangaroo and move onto the animals corpse as Evo (using the height you get from the exit), you can walk from the animal's corpse onto the teleporter.
