Version Differences
Updated 4 years ago by 1

First, what are the different versions available? They are as follows: Webleste (The website variation) Newleste (The easter egg in the Steam and Epic Games releases of the game) The Standalone (The downloadable version found under resources) Pico-8 (The cart that lets you run the game in pico-8)

Now generally speaking all the versions are mostly the same however there are a few key differences.

The first key difference is that players using the webleste version tend to be far more susceptible to missed inputs and input lag than players using any other version of the game however for some players with potato pc's it can be less laggy like it was for me when I first started running

The second and biggest key difference however is that the newleste variation isnt actually a 1:1 copy of the other variations. The reason for this is that the other versions are written in Lua whilst the port on newleste is written in C#. During this conversion process one key piece of tech was removed and that is empty dashing. For those who are unaware empty dashing is dashing without giving a directional input and can be used to change your parity and walljump off of left facing spikes. Due to its removal, 2700m is harder in the gemskip category as you cannot empty dash at the start, and a slightly slower but in my opinion more consistent method of fast-1800 is also impossible. Another quirk of the newleste port is that when executing fast-2500 you actually die for I believe a single frame when clipping the spikes on the ceiling losing you very minimal time.

Anyway thats a quick wrap up of the different version differences.
