Sorry, but I think this run is just too technical and skillful to be admitted onto these leaderboards, I mean after seeing a 12.01 run it's very clear the category is dead before it was even alive.
If you wish to compete in such a challenging category, I would recommend submitting to Twin Galaxies, as this website is just filled with Super Mario speedrunners.
However, I still wish you best of luck on your endeavours in this cathegory!
Requesting that Portal 2 Category Extensions ( https://www.speedrun.com/Portal_2_Category_Extensions ) be set with the game type "Category Extension"
for the glados fight, if you watch my video you can see the following technique:
-stand a little far out for the turret to start targeting you and turn around -once the turret has turned around and is starting to look up, back up a little bit -wait for it to shoot -profit????
i feel like my explanation doesnt make sense, but it is a trick that will get easier the more you do it and get used to it
as aspect said, demos carry over.
for timing demos i would recommend using "SourceLiveTimer" (can be found under resources)
The program will time your run map by map applying you record demos and keep the program open during your run however, if you dont want to keep it open, the program can also time your demos by going to (right click -> open splits -> from demos) and selecting the demos from your run
Hi PlanetDas,
This leaderboard ranking is due to Eddd's time being submitted through real time, while your time (and all others above Eddd) are submitted using time without loads . Even though Eddd's run is probably faster than yours in time without loads, we prioritize times that submit their time without loads as it is the most accurate way of timing the game.
Your run does not need a video unless its in the top 10, so demos are suffice for verification purposes, any additional videos or splits are not required
Regarding a top 10 run, we've had a scene in the past of a time not showing the livesplit timer. Straight gameplay footage will NOT apply for top 10 verification, and livesplit has to be shown for the duration of the run. For this reason, I would recommend using a program other than shadowplay
you just gotta grab the radio and setup the glitch faster. the amount of saves/loads you do does not affect the time for the portal closing
the fps_max command cannot just be changed in its own bind. however, it cant be changed in a bind with other commands the most common example would be a save, a load, and a fps change all on one key
example: bind 1 "save highfps;load highfps;fps_max 300" bind 5 "save lowfps;load lowfps;fps_max 70"
this instantly saves and loads wasting no time, and changes the fps.
also i have no clue the about the technicalities behind this - source engine is weird
Are you starting your runs with the speedrun_start command?
my best guess is that you have game time set to record but you're not actually comparing against it
right click live split -> compare against -> game time
if you haven't, look at what other top runners do
assuming you have done so, we cant really help you until we see what you're doing wrong, so a video of some cube throw attempts would be beneficial.
