We currently have got one PC run for the Top Dog(All Achievements basically) run and we've tested a couple of things. So for NG+ the PC version is way slower since the game-breaking glitch(KT jump) has been patched, so expect the PS3 version to still reign there. For NG however it's definitely the version you'd want to be running on since it has NG cutscene skips and is waaaaaaaaaay more stable than the Wii version. I'm going to be running NG categories pretty soon myself!

After a few tests, we have decided to allow MelonDS version 0.5 for RTA categories. I'll try to keep up with its updates and test accordingly.

basically, i'm wondering how the active runner number is determined
so i tested both no$GBA and desmume(again) and they're significantly faster over 50 door transistions, think about 15s each. no$ is actually faster than desmume and probably a little more stable in running. I couldn't get melonDS to run so rip testing that :P
so as far as i know, desmume is fairly accurate with how much faster it is. I can safely say that over the length of MKU Spring Breeze it saves .375s every single door transistion. Which means that there's a certain consistency to it. Otherwise i would never even suggest this change.
there are also a few newer emulators that we've never tested, MelonDS, no$GBA. And i'll be testing those as quickly as possible. (Basically when i had some sleep)
so because DS capture cards are so hard to come by and they are banned for the RTA sections of the games, i wonder if you guys would like an emulator category. Basically it'll be secondary leaderboard next to the original RTA categories. Any thoughts?
If i remember correctly to get to the true arena you are forced to complete all the games, else you won't be able to progress to it, thus the "true" any% definition is All Games
Okay, let me rephrase then. Sure things can be categories, but don't always need leaderboards. You can run Spring Breeze level 2 all you want, and that's okay. I don't mind that, i don't really care if you do. But I don't see that working as a leaderboard. And unless I get popular demand for it(note the word popular) I don't see it ever being a leaderboard.
A good example of this is Kirby & the Amazing Mirror Co-op. It doesn't have a leaderboard, and literally all the runners of that category don't care for it. It's a fun little meme and we keep track of WR on our own. You don't have to have leaderboards for everything.
Again, run it if you want. But unless it gains enough traction I won't make it a leaderboard.
I honestly don't see the point of making categories that small. We've got perfectly fine IL categories and they work and are fun to do. To have categories that are literally shorter than a minute is pretty much pointless.
As for ability-less, if you want to run it, i'd say run it, have fun with it. I personally don't really see the appeal of it and probably won't do it for KSSU ever. Also I think it's not even possible to beat the game without using floating. That's just how the gam is designed.
the easy way is to simply point a webcam at your screens. You can also buy a capture card for other DS's, a good place would be http://www.3dscapture.com/ there's also a page for ds itself.
This question has actually been asked in a different thread already (http://www.speedrun.com/kssu/thread/yo4pj) i mentioned the possibility of All Helpers being a category but it being a pretty shitty one. If you want to seriously run it, feel free to do so but i'm not going to make any advances on my own to make a leaderboard without any interest from other runners.
yeah, you can upload it to imgur for instance and put a direct image link (so ending with .jpg or .png) in the video variable and it'll show up nicely ;)
yeah, when you're doing Spring Breeze practice, make sure you do it off of a fresh file. Because Spring Breeze actually makes some bosses have a little bit more health if you play it again. I don't know why it's a thing, but it's a thing.
